Dallas Don Burnet - Cancel My Disappointment ((CD))

Dallas Don Burnet got his start in the 1980's California punk scene, and rose to prominence in the early '90's as bassist with Los Angeles' post-punk stalwarts Thelonious Monster, and then as drummer for pop-art troubadour Beck, before founding his own melodic noise/rock outfit, Lutefisk. In 2009, Spin magazine declared Lutefisk to be one of "The 100 Greatest Bands You've (probably) Never Heard Of". Burnet's first solo outing, "Cancel My Disappointment", is a collection of nine songs brimming with melody, more folk-pop than punk-rock, with jangling guitars and memorable melodies soaring against a backdrop of strings, keys, horns and drums. Comparisons have been made to Bowie, Grandaddy, Elliot Smith and even ELO, but on this release Dallas Don creates a sound all his own.
